Preparations before Linking Drawings

Apply the following layer Standards to all drawings for CAFM.

• Verify you have the following layers for each room drawing:

  – room trace layer

  – text layer

  The room trace layer consists of polyline traces of the perimeter for each room. The text layer consists of text containing the room number in the center of each room. Be sure the room number is in the center. If numbers are near the edge, the system cannot determine the correct space.

• Assure the room trace layer and the text layer have the same name for each drawing, for example, cube_trace or room_trace.
• Trace each room with a closed polyline object.
• Verify you have a text layer for each drawing that contains the room number for each space. This room number must be an exact match for existing room numbers in WebTMA.
• Name the text layer consistently for each drawing, for example, text or room_text.

CAFM performs a number of queries on the area/room table and the room number data must be populated. If it is not populated, results from those queries will be incorrect.
